  • You can’t expunge traffic offenses.
  • There are four locations for Secretary of State’s formal driver’s license reinstatement hearings: Chicago, Joliet, Springfield and Mt. Vernon.
  • If you Illinois driver’s license is suspended in Wisconsin or most other states, Illinois will also suspend it too.
  • Driving on a suspended license can now lead to jail time.
  • If you are under 21 years of age and you receive two moving violations within 24 months, your license will be suspended.
  • If your license is suspended or revoked, you can petition the Secretary of State for a hardship license that might allow you to drive to work or school.
  • If you have received 4 D.U.I.’s in Illinois as long as the 4th is after 1999 your license is revoked for life with no chance of reinstatement.
  • You cannot expunge traffic tickets.
  • You cannot expunge D.U.I.’s.
  • If you get a speeding ticket in a construction zone, the minimum fine is $375. The second ticket in a construction zone would result in a $1000 fine and a suspension of your license for 90 days.
  • If your license is suspended you can file for a hardship license to drive to work or school.
  • In most traffic cases, a lawyer will handle the case on a flat fee basis no matter how many court appearances are required.
